The Many Forms of Pasta

That is a lot of pasta my friends. I had no idea there were that many variations... I didn't know fettucine had to be 6.5mm wide, otherwise it is called bavette. I do know one thing though, homemade pasta is so delicious compared to store bought.

Sugar Intake

How often do we actually think about what we eat? Homogenization, preservatives, organic, no msg, diet!? We eat differently nowadays. It can be hard just to know what we take in unless we are calorie counters. So what do we do?
Well, I'll let the infographic speak for itself. And I guess I should lay off the Kool-aid...

World's Oldest Ferrari

This 1947 Ferrari 166  has recently been unveiled for the first time since being completely restored:

world's oldest ferrari

It cost about $500,000 to completely restore, and is said to be valued at $8M.

'Tis a thing of beauty really...

Even powered by a 2.0 L V12

What a rare beast. Only 39 were made between 1948-53. The owner originally bought it in 2004 for $800,000. This is the type of investment I would be interested in. A remarkable car.

Sammy Hagar Sells His Shelby Mustang

The Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar, is selling his 2007 Shelby GT500 Mustang and wants a fan to own it.

Sammy Hagar Shelby Mustang

“I bought another car recently and have run out of space!,” says Hagar. “Instead of letting one sit outside I've chosen to sell one and chose this beast! But, I don't want to put it up on Barrett-Jackson and see it get marked up - I'd rather see a Redhead driving it and sell it at blue book! I bought this Shelby new and have driven it very little (low miles), plus it's been driven by Mike Anthony and Chad Smith during the recording of Chickenfoot III.”

The GT 500 Mustang is fully loaded and has only 2,920 miles on it. Blue book price on it is $36,000, and according to Sammy's Facebook page is on a first come, first served basis.

Hagar is adding some extra value to the package as well. "I will autograph the car and throw in some goodies!”, including a trunk full of Red Rocker memorabilia.

The buyer can pick it up in-person for a handoff of the keys from Sammy Hagar. Someone is going to get super lucky on this deal.

(So... can someone spot me $36,000?)

All About Avocados

Well this is a bit of news to me... I didn't ever think about what an avocado is. It now makes sense that it is a fruit: Grows on a tree; Has an abnormally large seed in there; And it is delicious.
Having lived in Southern California, I saw many avocado groves and was always jealous. How amazing would it be to just have fresh avocados in your backyard. Putting them in ice cream though... I may have to try that.

Light Graffiti Cars

This is quite possibly one of the coolest things I've seen in awhile...

light graffiti bugatti

This is done by having a super long exposure on a digital camera and using different colored light "drawn" to the shape you want. So that gives you an idea of the type of artist it would take to just draw in the air and make this happen. Incredible that you can tell exactly what cars they were going for. The first one above being a Bugatti Veyron, below an F430...

An Aston Martin of some sort...

And the rare TVR Sagaris:

Amazing stuff. Kudos to Road Safety Talks for posting this.

History of the Electric Car

Who knew there have been so many Electric Vehicles? The ones in the 1830-1930 range were well ahead of their time. Though it seems there were quite a few in the 90s that had decent range, but just weren't ready for primetime. My choice would definitely be the Tesla Roadster (mostly due to the Top Gear review.)
Excellent infographic...

Though, gas guzzling V8s will always be cooler :)

Popular Cars of 2011

It is no surprise that the F-150 tops this list here. I've read in the past that it is the best selling vehicle, ever. Having sold over 35 million F series, it is quite the formidable foe. Especially since the next best selling vehicle (VW Golf) sold 26 million, with several other selling well into the 20 millions.
It is surprising to see trucks selling so well still. While the rest of the world is keen on small economical cars, America is set on the behemoth that is the pickup.
An interesting look nonetheless...

Eating Habits

Eating habits for Americans really surprise me. I mean I love eating out as much as the next guy, but 25% of one's meals being fast food! Crazy!! I'm all about the fine restaurants and good home cooking. Fast food is for the birds...
